While COVID-19 has forced social distancing to be the norm and hurt businesses across the spectrum, home sales in Katy’s Cane Island have remained largely unscathed.
According to figures from Cane Island, sales are up 38 percent through the end of August.
“The community has experienced year-over-year growth since it opened in 2015, but this is far and away shaping up to be our best sales year to date,” Lawren Eckhardt, Cane Island’s director of marketing, said in a news release. “As always, our valued Realtor partners are a big part of this growth.”
There have been 202 new home sales in 2020, up from 146 during the same period a year ago. Homes sell for $280,000 to custom estates at more than $1 million.
“As families spend more time together, there’s a greater emphasis on enjoying all the bells and whistles of a new home, particularly with more professionals working remotely,” Eckhardt said.
Cane Island features the “resort-style Cane Quarter,” which includes a yoga studio with on-demand classes, a fitness center, lap pool, lagoon-style pool and a central lawn. The Oaks Kitchen & Bar is located in Cane Quarter as well.
The community is located north of I-10 on Cane Island Parkway near the intersection of Franz Road.
